May I interrupt you from your dancing for a few moments? I am Sergeant Arni of the Shadowglen Police Department. I request your cooperation for the smooth flow of investigation. An incident occurred in the police department's only office. With the bulk of our police force assigned to monitor the safe and secure environment of the Atebus Revolution Masquerade celebration, only 10 commissioned officers, and a further 3 non-commissioned officers were left to man the situation in Shadowglen.
I have not yet personally returned to Shadowglen since this year's Masquerade celebration began, so I have only been informed by a certain Dr. Able about the situation. Reports about May Mari Hanley have been filed since the third week of February, but search and rescue operations have failed to any more cues as to May Hanley's location, apart from reassurance that she was not killed.
How well do you know this Dr. Able? It occurs to me he has been doing investigations of his own, and has a few leads. Sgt Czervan was one of the non-commissioned officers left behind in Shadowglen, that I recall. I regret to hear of his tragic death. Dr. Able informed me that majority of the cabinets were cleared out, and the police station seemed to be evacuated rather than a masscre occurring on its grounds. I am not certain why Sgt Czervan would be a specific target, however. The Police Helpline seems to also have been cut in our absence.
Dr. Able mentioned finding only two case files left inside the station, namely, Operation MAY, and Project MAYhem. He also reports to having lost the Project MAYhem case file on the way back to his residence.
Now, this is where you come in. Do you think you can retrieve the Project MAY(hem) case file? The contents of the case file are highly confidential, compared to the Operation MAY file, which was marked official. If you find the Project MAY(hem) case file, do not return it to Dr. Able, or even disclose its contents to him. I will return to Shadowglen in 2 hours, and begin to perform my own investigation on the incident at the police station last night. I repeat, do not disclose the file contents to Dr. Able, if you find the Project MAYhem case file.

Good day. Many of you might be familiar with the recent events that have been attributed to the headquarters of the Skedhu Uprising, located in the Shadowglen Underground. I am personally contacting you to clarify matters.
We, the Skedhu Uprising, are the ideological offspring of fringe anarchist groups, such as the Skedhu Liberation Front, and the Modern Order of the Bellicose. A sizeable amount of our leadership and membership were members of the aforementioned groups before they were forcibly dissolved. We represent ideologies that are not very common in Shadowglen, such as the reinvigoration of the Tehb as a race, and the abolition of the increasingly capitalistic trade and tourism in the Shadowglen Underground.
We are not "exotic". We are not a mere show, and not all of us mindlessly eat "BRAAAINS". The current portrayal of the Unliving and Tehb and our culture is insulting to some of us, due to the reinforcement of commonly held stereotypes by the Centropolis-controlled media.
We believe that the Shadowglen Underground must return to its old state, to preserve its culture, with minimal influence from the Living. We believe that Shadowglen must also be renamed to Skedhu, in order to reflect our cultural heritage properly. We believe that the citizens of the Skedhu nation must not succumb to popular vote. We have nothing against the Rainsongs themselves, but hope for a new system where Skedhu's political consciousness will rise again, and its citizens will rationally vote for an appropriate councilor. Nepotism and the "popular ballot" are a mark of traditional dirty politics, and the population unwillingly succumbs to it.
Until significant changes with Shadowglen's governance have not been made, we remain anarchists.
We are aware of your correspondence with Dr. Able, and hope that the incident does not malign further collaboration with us. We are in dire need of your support, in form of weaponry. Specifically, we will release Amy Mari Hanley, taken as hostage with us, provided that the following conditions are met:
1. Our pleas will be taken to higher awareness not only within Shadowglen, but also in the Darkside, and the rest of Subeta,
2. That hybridization and the mass diaspora of ethnic Tehb and other indigenous peoples of Subeta are controlled, to maintain the culture of these dwindling races.
3. That the joint chancellors of the Shadowglen Underground, Skitters and Ecks, both step down from public office,
4. That technological progress in Skedhu is unimpeded by the preservation of the local culture.
Please send Dr. Able our apologies for yesterday's incident. It was employed out of necessity, to prevent unauthorized access to the basement floors of the Skedhu Uprising headquarters beyond the floor B3. Our automatic security systems were triggered by his interference, and thus, various critical information about our group's operations might have been revealed if the security system has not been put in place.

It is no longer a secret that I am the leader of the Skedhu Uprising. I am personally contacting you, once again, to inform you that while you have failed at the tasks I have asked of you, there is no cause for worry.
The case file for Project MAYhem is in my hands once again, but I thank you for your effort. I probably should have been more transparent. The strain of being the only police officer in the Skedhu... Shadowglen Police Department has taken its toll on me. I have been rendered incapable of rest, having to work on all these cases alone.
While you were not able to distract Dr. Able enough from interfering with my investigations and my business, I will not take that against you. It probably was a big surprise to you that I could lead a fringe group composed mainly of the Unliving, some Tehb, and sympathizers to the cause, of all races.
In any case, Dr. Able needs to be stopped, before his childish romance, persistent curiosity, and his big mouth can potentially bring Shadowglen on the brink of war. His non-sanctioned investigation is a threat to the safety, security, and peace of Shadowglen.
This time, I need you to silence him.
Or so to speak, I need you to help me kill him.
I assure you that you will not be prosecuted, and this will not be taken against you in court. By getting rid of his meddling self, you are securing the peaceful future of Shadowglen.
I do not want to take any chances, and I have a plan in mind. All I ask is your support, be it in weapons, or just with your presence. I would appreciate for you to turn in junk weaponry (tier 1) into a shop, gallery, or warehouse of yours, unpriced, and inform me of the category where you have placed them. I will do my best to reimburse you for the value of the weaponry, and I will use them to create larger-scale weaponry and security solutions. I will not take these weapons away from you, but I will look at them as prototypes for what I intend to build for the use of the Skedhu Uprising.

They are simple Tehbs, simple Unliving, simple human sympathizers. They do ask for reform, yes, but they only seem to fight for equality and cultural preservation from Centropolis influence. If not out of fear for what Sergeant Arni is capable of, they would set Amy free. Commandante Rose and I made a deal. She would release the original Project MAYhem file, which she claims could unlock many cues to Arni's true identity and plans. In exchange, we have to feed the members of the Uprising. She was the traitor among the Uprising's ranks I referred to - the guards were appeased with some food she bought from the commercial district of the Underground. That was how I was able to get to Floor 108B, which, as I found out from her, was directly accessible from the tenth floor, through a very specific security key which brought me directly down to that level. That is where Amy is currently imprisoned by Sergeant Arni. I do not remember who I got the key from, or what it is anymore - my memory is too hazy, and I am convinced Arni's interference with my thoughts may have a hand to that.

I have just finished delivering one of the last food packages to their headquarters, and met up with my contact. She has handed over three pages from the salvaged Project MAYhem file, since the originals were highly redacted with whiteout marks. She told me that the other pages of Project MAYhem were missing from the file I found in the police station, because Arni had the rest of the pages, but they were also filled with whiteout marks.

My contact also salvaged a transcript between Sergeant Arni and Dolly, in its entirety. It's related to the REMemory program that Dolly was supposed to be subjected to, but it looks more like a personal conversation between the two. If all goes well, my contact told me she should be sending me the rest of the Project MAYhem file within a few hours, as they mostly contain schematics.

WEST-SKEDHU, Shadowglen - A recent investigation by private investigators from Centropolis, accompanied by volunteers from Shadowglen and neighboring Meneb uncovered new information regarding the unknown epidemic that killed 264 patients in the Sildi Memorial Hospital on March 28, 2014.
A new virus, currently named EEV-2, for "enteroencephalopathic virus", was found in cortical tissue samples derived from all recovered corpses from the hospital.
EEV-2 is suggested to be a mutated form of the still unidentified virus from a substance named "Bulbous Vial", distributed to some tourists to the Shadowglen Underground, during the Survival Celebration last February 2014.
Scientists in the investigative teams proposed two modes of transmission for EEV-2. The first proposal states that saliva from the bite of a carrier of EEV-2 carries the virus to the bloodstream, where it propagates itself through binding to CD4[sup]+[/sup] T helper cells and utilizing the replication mechanisms of the cell to propagate its genetic code.
This is similar to the mechanism of infection of HIV, a virus that specifically affects humans.
Another proposal states that EEV-2 is a specially engineered variation of the virus from the "Bulbous Vial", designed to trigger rapid death in humans and other sapient races. Of the 270 patients in the Sildi Memorial Hospital, only 6 Tehb patients did not die to the virus.
EEV-2 is said to also directly trigger a rapid auto-immune response that leads to the lysis of cells in the gastrointestinal tract, and subsequent tissue necrosis.
The virus then targets the cerebral cortex, triggering the apoptosis of cells in neural tissue. The cortex affects attention, language, thought, consciousness, memory, and perception.
The brain stem is the next part of the brain affected with hyperimmune responses, leading to cell death in the area.
Dr. Rosemarie Sazyk, an Unliving virologist known for her previous affiliation with the Skedhu Liberation Front, stated that ethnic Tehb are immune to EEV-2 infections, due to slight differences in T helper cells found in their body. She states that "Tehb are still able to carry the disease and transmit them to other sapient races."
Dr. Sazyk adds, "those who die to EEV-2 were found unable to be revived in the Shadowglen Underground. Its period of incubation is a measly 1 day, and all progressions of the disease are carried out in as little as 2 days, to as long as 4 days."
